Grandeur of the Seas Cruise Review by *Justus2*
- Sail Date: April 2018
- Destination: Bahamas
We've been on Grandeur several times, so only went to "new" shows to us. Britain's Best, a Beatles tribute group, and the Tenors group were good enough that we would go again. The reworked and much safer floor version of the Seasons show, is also worthy, with 4 excellent vocalists. Note to Staff: please check those mics- you lost a good male voice that way.
We've done every route Grandeur offers one to three times, but will do our favorites some more, especially Bermuda.
Baltimore is an easy port for getting on and off, with good parking at the port, although the price is up 50%, to 15.00/day.
If you prefer, some local hotels offer a free shuttle to/from the port and 7 days of free parking, with additional days for a daily fee if your cruise is longer.
If you are comfortable in the US, shore excursions aren't as essential as in foreign itineraries, but in new ports the Hop-On Hop-Off buses are a great way to find what interests you most and allow you time and transport to go back to those places.
Service is a strength with Royal, but the dining has slipped noticably, with consistently undercooked steaks- if you want medium, order medium well or well done. If you want raw, order rare. Staff are happy to replace items until you figure it out, but the galley is a lot slower than it has been on past cruises.
