This was my family of 5’s first cruise. Based on this cruise, I would not take another one. The first day, they put us in a different room then the one I had booked. When I went to the Customer Service desk, the Carnival Rep told me to call Expedia who I had booked though because there was nothing he could do. He was VERY rude and unhelpful. Being it was our first cruise, I tried asking how the cards they give you and the food works. He didn’t seem like he wanted to help. Nice first impression and unfortunately it didn’t get much better. I had previously read it was a cruise geared toward families. That’s not true. Adult party times and children’s pools and slide are all together. When we met our cabin cleaning guy, he barely spoke English so when I asked for evening service after we left for dinner, he thought that just met “do not come”. So we only received one service. They also make you go to a manitory “Emergency” meeting in case of an emergency while on board. While I understand the importance of this, it’s not helpful when they herd you together like cattle then have a Captain who can’t speak English well talk then a Cruise Director who speaks so fast in speakers that crackle that you are left having no clue what was even said! Dinner time was given to us at 8:15. We had no other option unless we wanted to do the buffet. During this time is when the Family shows play and movies. We missed a lot because of this if we wanted to sit down together to eat. When we asked if we could do a “any time” dinner, we were told yes so we planned our day around this. When we show up and wait in line awhile, the girl tells us No we can’t. The staff needs to be on board with one another! No pun intended! We decided on an excursion to the Mayan Ruins which cost over $400. The Excursion desk girl never told us we needed tickets which she was suppose to have given us. We go to a meeting place where after rushing to get there, they still don’t say to make sure you have your tickets. We get off the ship, get into line, and as they are rushing us to the bus, are told we need tickets. I explain we paid on board but were never given tickets. The man told us we couldn’t go. At this point I’m just mad. Fortunately, another Mexican gentleman comes over and after hearing me explain, takes us through and writes a manual ticket. I blame Carnival for this!! They should stress that tickets are needed and MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THEM!!! Especially after paying so much!

Everything is overpriced. I spent $12 for a glass of wine that I might spend $10 on the bottle at home! No soda is included. Service was mediocre. Breakfast service doesn’t understand that you like to keep coffee in your cup. Overall... they over promise and WAY UNDER deliver!! I’d strongly suggest picking another cruise line!

Cabin Review

Ocean View

Bigger than I expected but still small. Black mold around shampoo dispenser in bathroom. Very outdated. Caulking around windows. Shabby!
