Chose this cruise because of the interesting mix of ports to visit and liked the idea of travelling on a smaller, older ship. Mixed reviews on here but we were pleasantly surprised.
Cabin was very clean and spacious two good sized windows, cabin steward very friendly and helpful. Food was very good, plenty of choice and good quality in both Marcos (buffet) and the Waldorf (sit down restaurant). Plenty of varied ways to amuse yourself on board- pool, gym, ping pong, quizzes, shows etc. Ship was fully booked and did feel busy at times.
Only slight disappointment was that we didn't get to go ashore in Stornaway, the sea was too rough and swell too high to use the tender boats. Crew did their best to get us ashore but unfortunately it didn't happen- can't be helped though as purely down to the weather.
Our favourite stops were Belfast and Tobermory- very different but both very interesting and really enjoyed our visits at both of them. We did the walking tour in Tobermory which was very good, our guide was a very knowledgable local lady and told us a lot about the Isle of Mull and Tobermory itself.
So overall, yes the ship is older and a little tired in places but it is kept immaculately clean, the facilities are good and the staff are very friendly and helpful. For the price paid we were very happy with our trip on the Marco Polo.
Nice spacious cabin,
