We recently cruised across the Atlantic Ocean to Rome on the Koningsdam. This is a beautiful ship, elegant design and well thought out. Crew was very friendly with prompt service. The cabin was very nice and showers were larger. The embarkation and disembarkation process was easy and smooth. Our only disappointment was with the dancing opportunities for ballroom dancers. This was limited to tea dances in the afternoon lasting only 45 minutes four times only on a fourteen day cruise. BB King band was good, but with little variety. Other options for dancing were non-existent. In the past we have really enjoyed the lounges with duo or trio groups. This is more intimate with variety of music styles. Lido deck food was the best we have seen on a cruise. Freshly cooked food when you ordered. Having pagers to alert you when your order was ready for the Dive-In hamburger station and the New York pizza station was a great idea. Lectures offered on board were good and relevant to ports. Port explanations were helpful but we did not book any tours from the ship so I cannot speak to that. The production shows were fantastic. Overall a wonderful experience and would recommend traveling on this ship.
