Solstice is beautiful with the friendliest, most caring, attentive and helpful crew ever experienced. The food was good with huge helpings in the dining room and the waiters were ever so obliging. The live shows featured first class entertainment- best ever and very varied ranging from the fantastic Solstice singers/ dancers to very funny comedians. The ship is spotless with everything in the stateroom working perfectly. The carousel type shower was a pleasure to use, the air conditioning highly effective. The embarkation process was effortless and well organized.
Despite all the wonderful attributes mentioned above, my husband and I were in a constant state of trauma and unhappiness on this lovely ship. Why?
We suffered from a constant, invasive, relentless ubiquitous cacophony of noise masquerading as music piped throughout the ship. There was no respite from this awful abusive racket from pop/rap/disco music best suited to teenyboppers than to baby boomers who comprised about 80+% of the passengers. We were victims on board of a faceless group of people in Miami who dictate to the passengers what kind of music they should be listening to.
Cabin was not only obstructed but also very noisy. It was one deck up from the kitchen? and the staff would come out on deck below us late at night to call their family/friends or to chat. This either woke us up or kept us awake until late. We also had a banging door which startled us each time it shut. As pluses, the fridge and air conditioning worked really well. The cabin attendant was very efficient and kept our stateroom spotless, replenishing our toiletries when necessary. Our huge bed was extremely comfortable.
