Overall the Escape was very nice, and the crew is extremely dedicated to customer satisfaction. The buffet food was very good and there was a lot of choice in what to eat at each meal. Breakfast was our favorite. Getting on and off the ship for ports and excursions was very smooth. The housekeeping staff (Jimmy) did a fabulous job and always addressed us by name, including our 15 year old son. We really enjoyed the sports area with bowling, skee ball, darts, etc.
The only downside to the Escape is that there are only two pools for over 4000 cruisers. One is an adults only pool most of the time and that excluded our 15 year old and the other was full of toddlers. None of us ever got in a pool the entire week. We'd go out early to sit by the pool - before 9 a.m., but all chairs were already taken or being saved. A lady on one of the excursions told us that you had to be at the pool by 5:30 on sea days to get a chair, and she was one of those people who was doing that. Not us! No way! Fortunately, there were only two sea days.
The cabin was big enough for three people and we enjoyed being on the balcony as we entered and left port. Our steward Jimmy was amazing and we really enjoyed seeing him each day.
You are bombarded with people trying to sell you things the minute you leave the ship - much like Mexico. We decided to go to Cabbage Beach and it was nice. We rented jet skis on the beach from a local company.
