We boarded MS Spitsbergen in Bergen. We arrived In Bergen just after 2pm and the Hurtigruten bus picked us up at 3pm to take us to the ship. The staff at the check in counter was extremely friendly and the safety talk beforehand was also informative.
Seeing the ship we were blown away. embarking was smooth and effortless. we did not get off again to explore Bergen as we were fascinated with the ship itself and the surrounding views. We also knew coming back we had a day to explore the city.
The ship was beautiful. inside and out. and being a smaller ship it meant fewer people. so we got to know the faces and some names and we knew the staff and crew. apart from a couple of days of rough sailing it really was a smooth trip.

We had a 4 sleeper cabin so it felt really spacious for 2 people. it was very comfortable. The bathroom though small was more than adequate. shower temperature and pressure was fantastic. we did have an overflow situation the one day when the seas was really rough and all the water ran away from the drain and splashed out the bathroom door. but other than that it was perfect. sufficient plug points to charge phones and cameras as well as still use the hairdryer :-) being on the 6th level meant we had quick access to the explorer lounge as well as the gym and the restaurant.

We climbed the 418 steps to the fjellstua viewing point...and what a view!the town itself is so beautiful, architecture and reflection in the water was something to behold.
