Sail Date: Feb 2018
Cabin: Deluxe Ocean View with Balcony 2B

This was our third (and probably last) cruise on Celebrity. We are seasoned cruisers (44 cruises) on a variety of cruise lines. We chose this cruise (SE Asia, February 4, 2018) because we had not been to any of the ports (except Hong Kong) before and because this cruise ended the same day at Signapore that the Sapphire Princess embarked at the same port.

We had sailed B2B on Summit before and knew the design of the ship. We find the atrium area to be dark and dreary. The long curtains look dated and the staircase is functional, but not attractive. We had no expectation of a 5-Star experience (Who ever thought this was a 5-star ship???) but were unprepared for the condition of the ship that we found.

We were in a deluxe balcony, cabin 9039. The balcony is relatively small (the same as the others). The metal around the door was corroded and the chairs were not very comfortable. On the inside of the cabin the paint was peeling around the door. The nightlight in the bathroom did not work during the two weeks we were on the ship, in spite of bringing it to the attention of the cabin attendant. He reported it to maintenance and said they would not be able to fix it. The cabin feels smaller than most cruise ships. There is a wall of mirrors that makes it feel smaller, not larger. There were dirty/worn throw pillows on the bed when we arrived. The loveseat was not at all comfortable to sit on. As others have mentioned, the layout of the closet doors and the bathroom door makes it difficult to access both of them. The only plus is that the cabin has a nice shower.
