  3. Coral Princess
My husband had always wanted to see the workings of the Panama Canal! It was an item on his bucket list. The Coral Princess is a lovely ship - we loved the formal dining and met some great new people onboard. We did the full passage of the Panama Canal on an excursion on a smaller ship. We were able to see the workings of the canal and learn more about the history and function. If you are looking for something for everyone, probably not the cruise for you. It was definitely an older group with few children and young adults. Food was great and the room was very comfortable. We had a mini-suite without a balcony. We found that we really liked the additional space. The entertainment could not compete with some larger ships that we have sailed on, but enjoyable and creative. Nightly movies under the stars were very fun! Very friendly and attentive staff. A pleasant surprise was in Cartegena - a great nature park right at the port! Monkeys, parrots, iguanas, flamingos roaming around.

A lovely cruise - to great ports! A smaller ship with an older clientele!

Cabin Review

Mini-Suite without Balcony
Cabin MY C201
The extra room was wonderful. It was at the front of the ship so expect a little extra motion. The sofa bed had definitely seen better days, but overall it was very enjoyable. Very nice window to let in light and see the sights!

  • Horseback Riding
The cruise line indicates that you need to be in "peak physical condition". I am 59 and softer than I used to be and had a great time. Just a lovely day in Aruba riding down to the coast - not too demanding - I hadn't ridden in 7 years. If you are an avid rider this probably will be too tame for you - but it was perfect for me!

  • Cartagena (Colombia)
What a delight to walk off of the ship and find a nature park right there - with wifi and a coffee shop. I really enjoyed seeing the roaming monkeys, parrots, flamingos, anteater, peacock and others - so fun and great photo op!

  • Panama Canal Tour
We disembarked on Gatun Lake, took a bus to a further park of the Lake and then continued on a smaller boat (about 250) through the remainder of the locks to the Pacific Ocean. Great to see how the process works, the countryside and a glimpse of Panama City! You take the bus back to meet the ship. Just a heads up - this took about 10 hours but it was worth it for us because this was our reason for picking this cruise - well worth the time.

We ended up renting a car and visiting friends before our flight - nice relaxing day

  • Veragua Rainforest
We took the rainforest tour with Ivan! A bus ride through the countryside of Costa Rica to the rainforest for a bit of a wild and a part "zoo-like" experience (to see the dangerous animals). A butterfly house, ride on a tram through the canopy and then a walk to a waterfall. A lovely day to introduce us to Costa Rica - I want to go back!
