Celebrity Eclipse Cruise Review by BestGuessed

Trip Details
  • Sail Date: Mar 2018
  • Destination: the Southern Caribbean
  • Cabin Type: Sky Suite 1

We having been cruising the Caribbean in February/March every year for the past eight years and this was our fifth time on Eclipse. We like to escape the last of the dreary winter weather in the U.K. and although this year it was an ordeal getting to Heathrow and then to Miami due to the worst snowfall we have had in years, the cruise was well worth our effort. Embarkation was slick and we were in Luminae for lunch by 11.45am. Eclipse is beautiful and we always look forward to being back on board. We had a Sky Suite as always, which is wonderful with a big wrap around balcony. Everyone from Frank our room attendant to the staff in Luminae were exceptional and made our holiday experience special. My husband and I always discuss the fact that we cannot understand the negative comments that people post about the ship, staff, food etc. as we have never been disappointed. How can anyone really say the food in Oceanview Cafe is boring? There is so much choice everyday .... Can anyone possibly eat everything that is on offer? As we were suite passengers, we were able to eat in Luminae but on dock days when Luminae isn’t open we ate in the buffet. Were we ever disappointed at the choices or the quality of food that was on offer? Definitely not .... we enjoyed every meal !! Luminae is special though and we absolutely love both the atmosphere and the food. Staff are wonderful too.

The whole ship is kept spotless by hard working, smiling staff and we can’t fault any of them. We always take time to chat with them and we appreciate everything they do for us. It’s a hard life for them being so far away from home and family for so many months at a time but everyone does their best for the guests on board. We cannot fault them.

The only slight criticism we have is that the theatre shows are repeats of performances that we have seen previously and some new material would be good. Most of the visiting performers are also ones we have seen before but I suppose it is to be expected as we have quite a few cruises under our belts now. We love the Eclipse orchestra and Roman has brought in some new ideas making more use of the orchestra’s talent around the ship which we really enjoyed. The house bands were both rather mediocre. As we are dancers we like a bit of interaction with the musicians but they were very detached and we felt not as good as bands we have had on previous cruises. We appreciate their music and we always applaud them so a smile in the direction of people who are dancing and to show a little interest in us in return doesn’t go amiss. Having said that, we still enjoyed our evenings on the dance floor. We didn’t do any organised shore excursions but just had a wander round the ports and did some shopping when we felt like a stroll. Having visited the ports on many occasions previously, we don’t feel the urge to explore any more. All in all a lovely relaxing holiday.

Cabin Review

Sky Suite 1
Cabin S1 9299

Great cabin at the back of the ship with big wrap around balcony. No overhang so quite sunny and it is lovely to relax and see the wake which is very therapeutic. Many thanks to Frank who kept our cabin spotless.
