We are seasoned cruisers, we chose the Grand Asian Cruise on Majestic Princess for the itinerary. We pre-booked a year in advance and was a 'bucket list' cruise for us. Arriving in Shanghai and our pre-cruise stay and excursions were wonderful (not part of Princess). Once we got to PuDong Cruise Terminal the nightmare started. We arrived about noon, we were in a mini-suite (which we found gets you nothing, no perks). We stood in line for hours, being told it was Chinese Customs authorities and not Princess, completely a mess and no apologies for the wait. 1st they would only take the LARGE suitcase, so any other smaller bag you had to haul through the lines with you. People on walkers and canes and had a extreme difficult time, with no help. Wheelchair people were whisked to front of the line. Once that nightmare was over, we got to our room. Shockingly the bags were waiting for us. No Champagne that I ordered, no flowers that I ordered, the water (which I found out only 1 day before you had to buy and could only do so prior to boarding!!) wasn't there either. When speaking with the room steward, everything we asked, we had to call someone else to help us. No robes in the room, no choice of pillows (Celebrity spoils us I guess). Everything was a hassle. The Wi-Fi we paid for was unlimited, yet when we got on board, they changed the payment policy so you had to buy MB's. I did that, every time I tried to get on, it wouldn't work. I needed to keep up with my work emails, I spent an hour deleting one day, they were ALL back the next. I complained and complained to Internet Manager who acted young, uncaring and not willing to help. Finally with a lot of hassle I got 80% of money back, 20% use was just trying to get on!!! But they were unwilling to refund.

The evening shows were 'ok'. But the hassle trying to get a set. Most of the ship were Asian people 60-70%. They would save many seats, we could never find a seat. We had to go 30 to 45 min early to just get a set. People were standing in the aisles everywhere I have vision problems, and could never get up close enough to watch. We could not stay up late to go to 2nd show, because of early am excursions.

The elevators were few and always some out of order. When the doors opened there was never any room. The Asians however would push and shove their way on no matter what and the Aussies, Brits and Americans were all left standing with our jaws open.

Cabin Review

Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin MF

Cabin was ok, liked the bathtub, but the bathroom had mold in it. We had to clean and clean ourselves. Even asking the steward, it wasn't cleaned, the floor smelled like urine. The robes we had to ask for. A laundry bag, for 14 days we did laundry twice, we had to ask for. It seemed like all we were doing is asking for things that should have been there.

The night of rough seas, went to the bathroom, and a huge wave threw me into the tub and I was stuck!!! That hurt my shoulder for rest of trip!!
