We booked this cruise because it was a good value, all inclusive package and it didn't disappoint. It's a smaller ship which is quite old now I suppose but it well maintained. We particularly like the asian style decor which harks back to it's previous owners. The range of eateries was excellent as was the entertainment, in particular the theatre shows and their extravaganza, "Elements".

What makes this ship different to others we have cruised on is the warmth and friendliness of the crew. Everyone passes the time of day with you and they all seem to genuinely care about their passengers.

We embarked at Barcelona and our package included a 2 night stay in this wonderful city, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Our transfers to and from the airport to the hotel and port were seamless and the embarkation and disembarkation processes have to be some of the speediest and efficient we have experienced.

Cabin Review

Inside

Cabin IF

Reasonable size for an interior cabin. Lots of storage and no niggling creaks and groans as we have experienced with other cruise liner cabins. Lovely walk in shower with sliding partition. Kept spotlessly clean by the lovely Maria who provided daily towel creatures! Enough sockets, one english, one european and one american with a shaver point (or in our case an electric toothbrush point) in the hairdryer in the bathroom. Shower gel, Shampoo/Conditioner provided in dispensers in the shower and a soap dispenser, body bar and body lotion kept by the bathroom sink.

The dressing table mirror was well lit and there was sufficient space under the bed to take our 3 cases. Incidentally, the cabin can be a family room as there is a additional single pull down bed over the double and also a small put-you-up sofa.

Port Reviews

Barcelona

We stayed here for two nights before our cruise. We have visited this city 4 times now and have always enjoyed it. The hop on hop off buses are a must as they allow you to visit all of the main sites. They also offer discounts for some of them if you purchase the tickets o n the buses.

Casablanca

Whilst the excursion was well organised and we enjoyed visiting he Medina and the Mosque, the city itself is a mix of poor and badly run down buildings and exclusive homes and hotels. I wouldn't have wanted to visit without being on an excursion and there isn't really enough to see to warrant any more than a few hours there in my personal opinion.

Las Palmas (Gran Canaria)

Nice city but the main promenade is backed by a very busy dual carriageway and the historic part of the city is a few miles walk from the port.

Tenerife

This is our second visit to Santa Cruz and it is a very nice city well worth a wander around.

Madeira (Funchal)

Funchal itself is a lovely town, beautiful buildings and flowers everywhere. The cable car is worth a ride but although the hop on hop off bus takes you a little further afield, I would not do it again as we spent a lot of time waiting at each stop whilst they tried to attract custom and it was particularly chilly on the day we were there. This is one place where, if you hadn't visited before, I would recommend an excursion as it is very diverse from one side of the island to the other and the scenery is stunning. We have visited 3 times now and our first holiday was of two weeks. If they offer a walking excursion of the Levadas, it's worth doing for the scenery alone.

Malaga

Another beautiful town with a gorgeous beach and a nice range of shops on the walk into Malaga centre itself. It's a reasonably easy walk from the ship and doesn't take the 20-30 mins they advertise unless you are a particularly slow walker. A word of warning, the information centre charges 1 euro for a tourist map, which I have never come across before, which I know isn't much but neither is the map! Also, they will try to sell you shuttle bus tickets which unless you are unable to walk, aren't really worth taking up. Don't let this detract from Malaga itself as it is a lovely place to wander around and take lots of photos.
