Since becoming a loyal Royal Caribbean cruiser we wanted to sail aboard the Harmony of the Seas. This was a fabulous week in the Eastern Caribbean. Our sea days were full of walking and exploring and attending many fabulous venues. Our real favorite was The Fineline water experience. It was mesmerising and kept our interest high trying not to miss a single thing.
We did not like smoking up wind of the children pool area. So glad we left the grandkids home. Most people we talked about smoking with from Cruise Critic felt the smoking area should be the top deck aft.
Do not like to see young children in hot tubs without a parent present. Many parents are off doing their social things on deck and little kids enter hot tubs with with one or two men. The day is coming when Royal Caribbean will see the potential for problems to arise from clearly unsupervised children in clearly adult areas.
Not our first choice but we really liked it, close enough to get to stairs and elevators quickly. Yes, small it we spent time out of the room whenever we could.
The cost of excursions is too high considering Royal Caribbean drops us at their private island. BBQ was tasty but too many wasted food and people catering to our interests would have appreciated the left overs.
We went on our own to the Cristobal Forts that were open. It was a nice walk. We really would have appreciated a local map to get around safely. Some areas were sketchy. Shops were open and friendly. Some were literally grabbing us by the arm and pulling us into their shops, not accepting no thank you, not interested. Street vendors were plentiful selling nnice things to junk from China.
We stayed at Quality Inn on Strickland Road. Nice clean place with lovely continental breakfast. Waite staff were incredible considering the volume of people that attended.
Convenient to port and airport with free shuttle service.
We saw iguanas and geckos along the pier, where school kids preformed. Many vendors selling pretty much the same things. St.Thomas is a quaint island that has struggled to recover from the hurricanes this past year.
