  • Destination: the Western Caribbean

The Miracle is still a decent ship, despite its age. Most areas are fairly well maintained, but there is room for improvement. Our only complaint about our cabin is that there was an odor in the bathroom that seemed to decrease slightly as the days went by. The reason we chose this ship was the itinerary (ports of call), and those were the highlight of our trip. We booked two excursions through Carnival, and two with top-rated independent tour agencies on TripAdvisor. Snuba (through Carnival) in Grand Cayman, Horseback riding, and visiting/holding monkeys, sloths, and birds in Roatan (independent), Lamanai ruins in Belize (independent), and the Mayan Ball Game (through Carnival) in Cozumel.

On the ship, we enjoyed the various activities hosted by the Fun Squad, including the week-long Clue game, as well as the evening shows. Our cabin steward, Wayan, and our server in the dining room, Bernadette, were so friendly, personable, enthusiastic, and helpful, as was every other Carnival employee we encountered on the ship (I wish I could say the same for all Carnival customer service personnel in general). The Serenity deck was nice, and we appreciated the large number of cabanas available on Serenity and higher decks.

Our cabin, 7114, was quiet, and we slept well. Our cabin thermostat worked well, but the common areas of the ship tended to be on the cool side and I needed a sweater or jacket in the evenings. This was our first time cruising with Carnival, and I found that I overpacked on dresses for the evenings. We found that many people dressed VERY casually in the main dining room, even on the formal nights. Most of the food was fantastic. There was just one lunch at the buffet where the chicken in the Asian cuisine was quite overcooked and dry, but everything else we had all week was delicious. We enjoyed the "Port of Call" items several nights on the dinner menu. We always ate breakfast at the buffet, and again, most of the breakfast food was good.

Cabin Review

Interior
Cabin 4D 7114

It was quiet with plenty of storage space, but there was an odor in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable, but the sheets were low thread count and scratchy, which wasn't fun when I got a sunburn!
