Our first experience with cruising was, on the whole, a good one. Our group, which ranged in age from almost 5 to 85, found enough to keep us busy and occupied through the seven day cruise of the Western Caribbean, despite some rough seas and missing a port of call.

The staff of the Westerdam was largely friendly and helpful, particularly the stateroom and dining staffs. The rooms and public areas were spotless, although the pool areas were less so.

The food was plentiful and good, and there was something for everyone, even semi-vegetarians. It was unfortunate that most drinks were not included and $2 sodas and $5 beer (plus 15% service charge) were a bit overpriced.

Cabin Review

Small but comfortable stateroom with adequate closet space; shower didn't work too well (hard to regulate water temperature; shower head didn't stay up); view somewhat obstructed by lifeboat; noisy HVAC system
