Sail Date: Feb 2018
Cabin: Neptune Deluxe Veranda Suite

This was our second cruise on Holland America. We sailed from Fort Lauderdale on February 14, 2018 on the Eurodam for an 11 day Caribbean Lesser Antilles cruise. We booked this a year and half before the cruise to get a Neptune suite on the back of the ship with a wrap around balcony Suite 6164. There are only 2 per deck port and starboard. The stateroom was fantastic and had been remodeled and updated in 2015. The staff was great and very accommodating. Our room stewards were the best and we took care of them after the cruise. Entertainment was excellent.

NOW THE DISAPPOINTING PART: The food was not the quality we expected on this cruise. The meat was tough with no flavor even the prime rib had very little taste as well as the tenderloin. The menu in the dinning room, for dinner, was very low end. Example stir fried chicken, pot roast, half fried chicken this is food you can get at your local diner. On the 11 day cruise we had lobster once. The one good thing is every night they had salmon on the diner menu which was really good as well as the tuna and cod. But I like my meat, but not on this cruise. My thought is they are buying low quality meat that is not grain fed or aged. They can save about $2.00 to $3.00 per pound by doing this.

The reason we booked our second cruise on H.A. was the first cruise was fantastic on the Nieuw Amsterdam June 17, 2017 Alaska 7 day from Vancouver. The food was exceptional, the meats were great and the evening selections were all upscale. I was shocked at the difference of the cuisine on the Eurodam. I am afraid H.A. has lost me as a customer. Celebrity will be my cruise line of choice. Should have stayed with them and not tried something different.

Cabin Review

Neptune Deluxe Veranda Suite

Cabin SB

The cabin had been remodeled in 2015 and they did a great job. It definitely was better than our first cruise which was a Neptune suite, but with the old style. This is one of the limited suites at the back of the ship with a wrap around balcony. The only way to go on an Alaska, or Panama canal cruise.

Half Moon Cay

Great be sure and rent a clam shell for 2 well worth the $35.00
