We cruised on the Gem this past week(12/26-1/3) and overall were not disappointed.
We breezed through registration and embarkation with ease.
The pink princess had a great time at the kids crew program;she met a lot of great kids there.
We spent time hanging out with fellow passengers shooting the breeze, playing bingo and trying the restaurants. Made it to all but Cagney's & Le Bistro, didn't have a bad meal. Tepanyaki was a blast.
New Years Eve on the Pool Deck was off the hook.
Cabin stewards were very attentive.
The coffee in the buffet was far better than in the restaurants.
Couldn't add a passenger to our cabin 5 days before cruise due to homeland security,or so the NCL cruise consultant said.
No more chocolate at turn down
We were on deck 11 aft, kind of noisy in the afternoon when people were playing sports on 13.
Our excursion was to Disney. Perhaps that one should have gone out first rather than last as it was the furthest from the port. Puchased theme park tix directly from Disney, purchased transportaion transfers from cruise line.
Had lunch at he Iguana Cafe located in Prince George Plaza on the second floor. Friendly wait staff and some of the best conch fritters I've ever had. Noticed a lot of local business people eating there. Always a good sign.
Visited some of the shops. The Linen Shop was terrific, grabbed some souvenirs for friends & family. Picked up some other goodies at Del Sol(items the ship didn't have). The princess purchased a straw box at another shop, paid for it with her own $ too which really delighted the clerk. Walked down the dock towards Senor Frogs and was met by locals who wanted to sell us bracelets and shells. Bring small bills 1's & 5's.
Skipped familiar chains that one can visit at home.
