We arrived in Miami on our honeymoon and after a very long flight and long immigration process, we then awaited collection from the airport to hotel for almost two hours. Royal Carribean never sent the transport promised by them and paid for by us. The embarkation process was 3 hours in extreme heat (and extreme disorganisation!). When we finally arrived on ship, our dining room sitting time was wrong (despite us booking this 3 months beofre the trip). anyone can make an error but to be told to "Come back tomorrow" every day for four days is rubbish customer service. Eventually we abandoned the dining room and ate in the informal windjammer...not what we paid for. Keen to escape the ship and the staff we booked several trips ashore (not cheap!). After Royal Caribbean had parted us from our money their interest in the trip waned. No details regarding meeting points, just shrugs and vacant stares when we had the audacity to ask! We paid $80 each for a trip round the Grand Cayman, only to find insufficient transport to return us to the ship. The result was the unsafe and uncomfortable cramming in of too many people into the little bus. Permanent snake-like winding queue at customer services as poor guests tried to have incorrect bills reconciled etc were a regular feature(RC just helps itself your money on the sea passes. Its then up to you to prove you never hired that lilo/had that pina colada/had that donkey ride etc etc! Worst of all though was when we were leaving the ship and our luggage went missing. We asked the Royal C rep who advised us to "wait and see" which we did. However after FOUR HOURS he finally shrugged and said it was probably lost AS HE WALKED AWAY! After much pressure from us he finally deigned to complete a lost luggage form and disappeared (to be fair he had quite a crowd of disgruntled passengers surrounding him by now). I rang RC upon our return and four months on, I'm still awaiting a response / luggage. My issue is this - ROYAL CARRIBEAN advertise themselves as the best. As a result they are expensive. Any company is only as good as how they act when things go wrong. We discovered they simply do nothing and hope you go away. They have received so many horrendous reviews (much worse than this) that I am amazed anyone travels with them. I'm sure the recession is impacting them so one would hope they will "up their game". My advice - choose Carnival, Princess. Anyone but them. They ask "Why not?" in their advertising. This is their answer....

Cabin Review

Stateroom with balcony was lovely. No complaints except complimentary water would have been appreciated. Mid ship so quiet and convenient to everywhere.
