We've heard so much about Viking Ocean that we wanted to give it a try. The price was right as was the itinerary: Lisbon to Miami. The pre-cruise stay was at a hotel in the heart of the downtown area, thus, far more expensive than the type of hotel we would normally use. The city tour was a bit short for the price. This was our 3rd visit to Lisbon, and it's a great city to visit.
Dining options: Restaurant: superb menu with food prepared superbly
World Cafe: Buffet: amazing -- "hot" breakfast food was actually hot; evening dinners were varied and, to be redundant, superb
Manfredi's Italian: best food on the ship, where almost all food was superb
Chef's Table: fixed menu, not much in the way of choices. Mistake to even try it, a mistake we won't ever repeat.
Room: we were upgraded to a 'junior suite" which happened to be a handicapped accessible room. For a wheelchair dependent person, it would have been superb. For us, the deficiencies (no place to put the soap, shampoo, etc) outweighed the positives. In addition, the ship was on its initial mid-Atlantic cruise. Ship had too many repairs in and around our room.
many minor problems, but a great locations
