My husband and I were looking for a way to escape the east mid-atlantic winter and decided to try a Viking Ocean cruise. We have been on several river cruises and appreciate Viking's approach to relaxed cruising. We were a little concerned about how we would find some of the caribbean islands after the hurricanes but were pleasantly surprised at how quickly they have recovered. Leaving from San Juan, we found the old town to be in great condition. We took the included walk and continue to be impressed by the quality of Viking licensed tour guides. We always learn something new. Other stops on this cruise included the Dominican Republic, Columbia, Aruba, Curacao and St. Kitts. Walking tours in each port were equally informative and entertaining. Our first time in Columbia, we were impressed with the colors, architecture and local flavors. We would have loved to have had more beach time, especially in Aruba and Curacao but made up for it with a wonderful Catamaran/snorkling excursion in St.Kitts. Two full days at sea allowed us to relax by the beautiful Viking Sea Pool and to catch up on our reading. Meals on board were up to the high Viking standard and we ate a couple of meals at the Chef's Table and Manfredi's. Great experiences all! The friendly and attentive bar staff were able to accommodate most requests for specialty drinks. Sitting in the explorer's lounge in the evening allowed us to snack on some wonderful cheeses and cakes while watching some beautiful sunsets. Entertainment highlights included the Rat Pack show and the Beatles Tribute, which was staged outside under the stars by the pool. Additionally, we attended the Veteran's reception and appreciated Vikings commitment to history and those who serve. All in all, we accomplished our goal of rest and relaxation and thank Viking for another wonderful trip.

The cabin was spacious and well equipped. Our steward attended to every need in a friendly and professional manner. We loved the balcony.
