We wanted to experience the Pacific waters since we heard how choppy it can get prior to our Hawaiian cruise. Mexican Riviera seemed perfect with past cruise passengers mentioning how return to the US can be choppy closer to LA. It did turn out to be quite choppy and our friends got sea sick. The sea band helped me very much without having to take any prescription medicines. That was a relief. The Captain said the ocean waves were 20 feet higher than normal due to the storm.

The ship is an older one but, the wear and tear did not show. However, on our floor there was a lot of water leaks. Ours was the last balcony cabin prior to a row of suites, most of who had to be shifted due to water leaks. the same situation for the interior cabins that were located in front of the suites. We were truly fortunate. One of the elevators was sealed off too over night due to the water leak. We loved this ship, which seemed to care about their passengers relaxation and dining pleasures with no sales pressure from the camera department, the Effy jewelers and all other stores unlike what we experienced on Coral Princess. So on board experience was really good.

We ate in the dining room at our set time with our friends. It was good experience with decent food. Our only disappointment was that we did not have any local foods. We split our breakfast in the cabin, buffet area and the dining room, equally and enjoyed the dining room the most only because it is nice to be served! The buffet was equally good with fresh omelettes prepared to order at breakfast. By the end of 10 days, we were a little bored with the same desserts both in the dining room) and buffet area. My sweet tooth expects more!! We loved the hand washing sink with recycled paper for hand drying. Now that we will be going on a 28 day cruise with Princess again, hoping for more variety and more of local entrees. The specialty restaurants - we tried the Italian and loved it. Our friends went for the crab shack and loved it too. The specialty dining was a relief of a break from the same boring foods. However, the tiramisu was not as delicious as the ones we had living in NYC. But, considering how many people are served without any snafu, we counted our blessings and thoroughly enjoyed the food.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin BF

Cabin was quite spacious with enough hangers to hand clothes, shelves to store our other clothes, suitcases under the bed. There was only one TV unlike in the mini suite we stayed on our Coral Princess cruise. We found the balcony not as clean as it was on Holland America cruise ships. Despite warnings from other reviewers about shower being too small ( yes it was just a square) but, the shower curtain did not hit our body inside. It stayed put. The water was warm and comfortable.
