Went to Chankanab Park for the day, just caught a taxi at the pier. $10.00 each way, and $19.00 each to get into the park, including a T shirt. 
Went snorkeling for a couple of hours, we brought all our gear with us, although you can rent it at the park. Finally got DW far enough out to where the fish were, and we had a wonderful time. You have to get out about a 100 yards to where the best formations and fish are, but the water wasn't rough and it wasn't a difficult swim. 
The park is clean and the staff are extremely helpful. The changing rooms are clean and lockers are available. You get the locker keys at the restaurant. We had a snack and a drink at the restaurant, then back to the pier to pick up a few souvenirs. 



Cozumel

We took the trip to the Mayan city of Uxmal. Booked it through Carnival since it was quite a distance and didn't want to have to worry about being late back to the ship. The trip was about an hour and a half each way and we had about two and a half hours at the site. 
We went to Chichen Itza last year, and were very disappointed. Uxmal was vastly superior. The main thing was there were no peddlers in the park constantly hassling you, if you wanted to stop and soak up the atmosphere you could and no one bothered you. 
This is a place where you can stop, sit on the grass, and let your imagination go. There is very little background noise, just the old buildings and the trees. Fun to just imagine what it must have been like. 
The guided part of the tour was about an hour, the guide was good and knew his stuff. After that you were free to move around by yourself. There were several buildings that you could go into, and one of the pyramids that you could climb up to the top. Be warned, these steps are very steep, and if you are not steady on your feet, it might be better to stay firmly on the ground. 
If you get off the path, watch for the Iguanas, they are everywhere, and some of them are large, of course they will stay away from you, but they make a lot of noise rustling in the undergrowth.

Progreso

Nice cabin, plenty of closet space. Hallways were quiet, we had some banging from the galley on the deck above one night, otherwise fine.

The ramp that hits the empress deck was out of action, so you had to go down to the crew deck to get off.We didn't realize that the ship had docked late until we hit the line in the terminal, but even so, it was an hour and a half from the parking lot until we were onto the ship.
