Carnival Destiny Review 12/5/09

History about the Family: On this cruise was me this makes my 6th cruise, my DH his 1st cruise, my mom her 2nd cruise, my DS and DD their 2nd cruise and my Dad his 1st cruise. My Mom and dad drove from KY to Miami yes about a 18 hour drive the rest of the family drove from NC about a 13 hour drive. All in all it was a very good smooth drive from NC to FL no real traffic until we got about 40 miles or so from Miami. Then it got bad! But we all got there in good time and all in one piece. It was cold when we left NC: And we over packed! We all stayed at the Hyatt Place by the airport. It is a very nice hotel very big rooms and a great TV. The people were nice at the hotel but they did mess up our reservations we had 1 room for 2 nights and 2 rooms for 1 night. And they were all prepaid. They got it backwards and we got overcharged and it took t a bit to get it all fixed. But after an hour they got it fixed.

Spending the day in Miami:

About our Cabins:

DH, DD and I had a Cat 11 (OS) 7222 and my Mom, dad and DS had OV cabin 1300. Cabin 7222 (OS) is a very nice cabin and in a great and quite location. No noise that I could hear. I really liked the dressing room area since we had 3 of us in the room. The balcony was nice. It was bigger than I thought it would be. Spent plenty of time out there. When we got into the cabin we wanted to see what was in the mini bar. It was locked. So we just kept it locked so that we would not be tempted to use anything in it. Just seemed easier that way. The only issue with this cabin was the fact that for a suite it seemed a bit small. What I mean by small is that the space could have been better layed out. When you walked into the cabin there was a small hallway which could have been used a bit differently. Maybe instead of a hallway use the space some other way. Not really sure how but that's ok. I really LOVED the tub that had the jets in it. I used it every night after a long day! The bathroom was a very nice size and was accented with marble and glass and lots of shelves. The suite did have a new flat screen TV with all hook ups if you were to bring anything to hook up to the TV. Would I book this type of cabin again? Well I guess it would just depend on the money at the time. If I had the money I think I would. I did like the VIP check in that was very nice to have.

Cabin 1300 (OV) This cabin was a very nice cabin as well. It was next to the elevator and from what my mom said very quite. This cabin was smaller that the suite but the way it was layed out it seemed longer than our suite. The bathroom was very small but it worked just fine for what it was intended for. The window in the cabin was very large and everyone in the cabin took turns lying in the window seal watching the sea go by! The vanity area was very long in this cabin. Which seemed nice with plenty of room. There was the older type TV in this room and no fridge. For the money this cabin was very nice as well. I would not have an issue booking this type of cabin as well. The cabin window was not dirty like I have read about other cabins as well. You could see out of it just fine.
