This was our 12th cruise with Princess and very disappointing. Why ? well a principle reason for cruising is the dining and can only give the food on the Coral as "poor" it was over salted, over cooked and unappetising. We tried the "Anytime Dining" and as an example probably the best meal was the last - New York Strip only that after the 1st course the waiters disappeared (for the Baked Alaska parade0 and the "applause for the Chefs - meanwhile we were looking at empty tables and had to wait some 25 minutes for the main courses to arrive.

Buffet in the Horizon was limited, apart from the omelettes at breakfast resulted in having corn flakes with fruit - hardly top notch dining ! There were banana's at the buffet that after 5 days or so were "black" and they stayed on display for the whole cruise. Poor ! especially when we docked in Puerto Rico - the banana capital of the world - surely someone could have nipped ashore and bought a box of bananas!

The only saving grace were the ships staff, from steward(ess) to bar/entertainment who were all magnificent. Cabin kept spotless.

Port Reviews

San Juan del Sur

Took a private tour to Granada and trip on lake - Problem was took 2 hours to get there as only 2 lane road so little opportunity to overtake. As a 3.30 pm last tender wanted to leave plenty of time for return journey. Needless as waited 1 hour in sun for tender (think one broke down), then ship departed at 19.00 due to another delay somewhere. A 5.00 last tender would have been better.

Cartagena (Colombia)

Took a Princess tour - interesting Spainish colonial city - Sir Francis Drake sacked it in the 1550's ! (Too ) Many street vendors who were a constant pain - having to turn the same one away several times in 15 mintues ! even saw an attempted mobile phone theft from inside the catheral - beware pick pockets !
