As a first time cruiser with NCL, I have to say thanks because my friend and I had a great vacation!! My friend and I were driving down to Port Canaveral from LI, NY and were basically fleeing the Nor'easter storm that was happening. I was soo looking forward to nice weather and this Bahamas cruise vacation! After a long drive we were meeting with friends and had an overnight hotel stay in St Augustine. The morning of the cruise, we woke up and left around 8:30am to get to check-in by 11-11:30am.

Driving directions to Port Canaveral were easy, we were able to park the car in the NCL lot right near the ship, cost $85 to park and no issues there. What surprised me was the incredible line of people just to get into the terminal! We each had a carry-on backpack and checked in a rolling luggage each, and got through security and whatnot pretty quickly. When we got to the check-in desk after showing the cruise docs and passport we got our NCL ship card which is basically the only thing you will need on you the entire time your on the ship! I was looking forward to not carrying my wallet and my cell. We were looking forward to being out-of-touch and disconnected for a few days, isn't that what vacation is all about? We were onboard the ship, made it to Spice H20 and had a drink in hand by 12:30pm, not bad!

The NCL Epic is HUGE! Until you see it in person, its a pretty big ship. Kind of funny looking at the front and back, but like a skyscraper on its side. Seeing all of the balcony's, the pool slides, the decks is exciting and then it clicked again how many people the ship can hold, and this ship was full! We didn't realize that spring breakers do cruises too lol Im only 10 years removed from being in college and the boat was completely overwhelmed with college kids. For the most part the ship was big and lots of room and didn't feel too crowded. I like to party and have a good time too but they totally took over the pool deck, pool bars, hot tubs, it took forever to get a drink too and the NCL bartenders were not the friendliest people either, granted they were very very busy.

e had a guarantee balcony and wound up on an "enclosed" hull type statreroom on the starboard side at the front of the ship. The room was very nice, modern and I liked how compact everything was and there was plenty of storage! lots of cabinets, drawers, etc. and to those who have issues with the separate toilet, shower and sink get over it. Its not such a big deal it was fine and didnt bother us at all. Room had a mini-fridge stocked with liquor/beer/soday, we were on the unlimited drink package but the mini-fridge items are not included. The lighting in the room was really cool, up lights, accent lights and whatnot but still felt dim, not too bright which was fine. The enclosed balcony was almost like a big restangular window in the metal side of the ship and we had 2 chairs and a small table. We couldnt see the water when we sat in the chair, but the enclosed balcony definitely gave us privacy which is what we like. All in all our room was great! Our steward was polite, nothing special though. I was dissapointed we didnt get a towel animal our first day (everyone always talks about the towel animals!) but got the rest our days onboard.
