Combined this cruise with our annual winter vacation in Florida. First time we did a cruise during the winter break and I found it a little too crowded for me. Not the fault of NCL - just the time of year. We have been on a couple of the Dawn's sister ships so the layout and size were familiar. NCL did their usual great job of providing friendly helpful staff. Jun our room steward was excellent. We had a mini-suite stateroom 11026 - starboard bow location. Good sized cabin for the two of us. Lot;s of walking to get to the back of the ship but then we knew that going in. Room was always clean, ice bucket always topped up and every night a towel animal on the bed. What more could one want. Given that the ship was at full capacity, it paid off to reserve for dinner. Ate twice in the main dining rooms and the other four times in the speciality restaurants. Food and service was excellent. Only used the buffet for breakfast and a couple of sncks butn always a good selection. Typical for sea days, the pool was croweded however, always seemd to be able to find a chair in a location we wanted. We did two of the four ports - Costa Maya and Harvest Caye. Both excursions were good value for the money. The other two ports (Cozumel & Roatan) we had been to before so we stayed on ship. The shows were good and there seemed to be lots of room in the theatre. Overall, good value for the money, no nasty surprises. Regarding embarkation - since we arrived at 3 p/m for a 4 p/m sailing, the huge lineups others were talking about were long gone. We basically walked on. Compared to a couple of other cruises we have been on, getting off was trouble-free. There was about a 20 minute delay but once we got off the ship, it was clear sailing (pun intended).

Took the deluxe tour which meant we were a group of 12 in a brand new mini-van versus a huge crowd in a coach. On return trip guide bought some local candy for us to try plus served water, pop or beer (we had the beer). Nice touch. Our guide was great - knowledgeable, personable, adjusted the pace to the group.
