We had booked this cruise 2 years ago and were very excited when the time finally arrived to go to Antarctica. We spent 3 nights in Buenos Aires beforehand and enjoyed our time there. Embarkation was straightforward, our inside cabin on deck 8 was ready quite early, we had lunch at Oceanview Cafe after we dropped off our things. The food there was very good as it was for the whole cruise.
We of course knew that this cruise involved a lot of days at sea, and that Puerto Madryn had been cancelled but our main focus was to see Antarctica and because we were so lucky with the weather we were able to see for ourselves this glorious place.
At our first port Ushuaia we took a taxi with friends to visit Tierra del Fuego National Park, the driver took us to the main stops and was very informative. Rounding Cape Horn was incredible as the water was flat, and we were able to slow down and even observe the famous statue there. This was really unheard of, very often ships don't even get to complete rounding the island! The good luck continued for our main stops for cruising in Antarctica, Paradise Bay and Elephant Island. Beautiful and calm weather allowed us to get outside and take in the beauty of this magnificent part of our planet.
