We picked this cruise because we were selling with friends from the UK who wanted to see Mexico. We thought the Concierge Class would make the cruise that much more special. Priority Embarkation and Debarkation sounded great for them after such a long journey. However, the trip started with a change of port from Fort Lauderdale to Miami. So we had to change flights and hotel reservations. Then we could not even arrive at the port before 3 PM. It took more than an hour to check in and board. No priority whatsoever. Everything marked for Concierge class was being ignored. They told us they were not using those today, so we ended up with everyone else after we got our Sea Passes. (The line to get the Sea Pass was specialized for those with Concierge Class but was no shorter than any other Sea Pass line.) We did not get a special embarkation lounge, as we were in a long line, then put into a giant waiting room with everyone else...we were herded like cattle into rows of chairs. Then after sitting awhile each row of chairs was directed to get up and join another long line. I asked again about Concierge class noticing there was even a special escalator marked for concierge and again was told they were not using that today. So we were just like everyone else, those who did not pay extra! We did not get priority seating in the restaurants. We did not get a welcome lunch. We could not disembark when we wanted so we carried our own luggage and walked off (which is free for anyone), but noticed those leaving the concierge waiting area (Tuscan Restaurant) joined the lines like everyone else when their number was called. So nothing special there either. We should have just gotten the regular balcony room.

As for the ship it was nice. The food was excellent. We usually go to specialty restaurants, but there was no need as the food was good. The ports were nice and the excursions were good. We booked the Secret River excursion, which was canceled due to State Dept safety concerns, so we ended up booking with a local company once off the ship to snorkel and it was great. There was not a lot to do on the ship, the focus mainly on shopping specials. They had bingo twice and a silent disco twice. The shows were alright (some singers great others awful), the comedian was good and the special guests the Filharmonics were very good. In summary, the cruise was fine, but concierge class was a ripoff.

Cabin Review

Concierge Class 2

Cabin C2

The cabin was identical to a balcony cabin. We were toward the front of the ship just a bit down from the elevators, so convenient, but not loud. The room steward was great. The Canapes everyday were so-so. We did have robes and Gilchrist Soames amenities. The cabin was quiet for the most part.

Port Reviews

Miami

We stayed in Coconut Grove before and after the cruise which was nice. Not as hectic as downtown Miami.
