We usually cruise with Carnival, but wanted to try a different cruise line. I will say that the ship was beautiful and clean. Our steward did a great job every day. Our meals in the dining room were so-so. Nothing to brag about. We always dress up to go to eat in the evening and the food in the main dining room were cheap and boring. On Carnival we had shrimp cocktail every night and usually some interesting meals with seafood and always had a choice of a down home meal. On the Jade their menus were items I would make at home, such as Goulash and Spaghetti. The buffet was nice and clean with lots of variety. We did not want to pay extra to eat in the Specialty restaurants that they promoted a lot. We also were not happy with the soda packages. I don't drink soda, but if we wanted the soda package we each had to buy it. In the dining room one night my husband ordered a Pepsi and we were charged $4.15 for one. I had pre-ordered the internet package since they didn't have the Social Network package that we usually get on Carnival, and when we arrived on the ship it was then being offered. They would not credit me for the one I had bought for the other one. Service was very spotty. We also ordered the $9.99 "on ship text/calling" package since we were with another couple and it was a great way to keep in touch, and it was horrible! It usually took 2-3 hours for a text to finally come in and only one time did we get through. We took the semi-sub tour and it was awful! The coral was just brown rocks, none of the pretty ones they advertise and we only was a couple schools of fish and none of the pretty fish we wanted to see. Overall, we'd go back to Carnival.
