This was our 9th Cruise. We have cruised on Carnival, Celebrity, Royal and Norwegian. We are in our 50's and sailed with our adult children and parents, so the age range in our party was 20's to 80's.

"The Good" -The ship never felt crowded and there were no young children, probably because there isn't a robust play area, or the usual slides etc. The shows were excellent! They moved the comedian to the Stardust Theater, so seating was not a problem. The staff were all excellent ( wonderful customer service everywhere). The sail away party was excellent!! It was very well organized and had staff mixing with guests beautifully. It was high energy and fun! The rooms were ready at 1:00 pm and the ship was spotless! We had the drink package and it was good , but it didn't include water or specialty coffee? That's weird- really Norwegian? those are the expensive items??

The "Not-So Good"- Disembarkation was chaos! The none US citizens needed to first clear customs in the Aqua lounge on the 6th floor, then everyone proceeded to the 7th floor to disembark. The entire ship ended up on the 7th floor and it was a mess. It was the worst disembarkation we have had in 9 cruises. We were in lines for 3 hours. We finished breakfast at 7:00 am and were in a line up until 10:00 am when we finally got off the ship. The halls were crowded line ups with no semblance of order or information. Another not so good, is that the On Board Credit can not be applied to the gratuities - C'mon Norwegian this is ridiculous. The food was definitely not up to standards- I had read this before sailing and thought well people are being picky- I was wrong. The meat at the carving stations was chewy;the amount of salt in everything was awful. I had read people say the food was salty, and now I know what they were talking about. The chicken in the curry dishes had bones you had to dig/pick around, but the flavour was good. The fish also had bones. The french onion soup had NO cheese and I am not exaggerating and it was salty broth, no taste, no cheese. It really can't even be called French onion soup. The worst; however, were the desserts. Colorful and pretty but nothing but corn starch. Even the cheesecake tasted like gelatin and no cheese or chocolate, all the desserts tasted like starchy gelatin cardboard. C'mon Norwegian even a school cafeteria has better desserts- That's where you choose to save money? The desserts everywhere were the worst I have ever had- we sure didn't gain weight (except for fluid retention from the salt). The main meals were cheap- there were no lobster tails, or shrimp cocktails, or escargot. The only appetizer that was OK was the salmon tartar. The ship's layout was a little odd. You couldn't go to the back of the Garden Cafe to the back of the ship and you couldn't go around the back of the cafe to the other side. It was blocked. It was very weird. There also seemed to be a shortage of public bathrooms especially for women - it was easier to just go back to the cabin.

Cabin Review

Family Inside

Cabin I1

The cabin was good. We chose an inside just for the price point, but usually do balcony or ocean view. The cabin is adequate. It was at the back of the ship so nice and close to the Garden cafe and pool. Great Great Great room steward!

Port Reviews

Tampa

embarkation was awesome, disembarkation a mess! but that was Norwegian Not the port of Tampa

Cozumel

We have been to Cozumel 4 times before, so we just got off the ship and did some shopping. It seemed to me the vendors were a little less pushy this time and responded well to No thank you. We did buy some items from less pushy vendors

Costa Maya

Its a quaint little port.

Roatan

We took a cab to West End Beach and went to Bananarama. We had been there before. A beautiful beach. there were vendors but they weren't pushy. Bananarama has a security right on the beach so that helped to keep the vendors back. It was our favorite port on this trip.

Harvest Caye

But the only bad thing was we were only here for the morning. we arrived at 7 am and had ot be back on the ship by 12:30. This should be a full day. Again Cmon Norwegian this is no brainer.
