For first-timers, our cruise on Norwegian Spirit could not have been a better introduction to cruising. Although we were disappointed that Mother Nature said we couldn't sail to the Canaries and Madeira, Norwegian managed to our cruise equally memorable by choosing excellent alternate ports.

Going back a few days, our stay in Barcelona at the Monte Blanc was perfect. The location gave us easy walking and taxi access to everything we'd hoped to see.

Back to the cruise: The polluted air over Casablanca on our first day worried us but Tangier proved that not all of North Africa has the same problem and we were able to visit it, and all of the other ports. There were eight of us, all except us experienced cruisers some with experience in the ports we visited. We did most of our exploring on our own,and had a wonderful time shopping and meeting local people. The tours we took were very informative. My husband and one of the others took the Alicante bus tour and we all went to Aix en Provence. Pity it wasn't warmer that day, but that's nobody's fault.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Inside

Cabin IA

I'm not sure I have the cabin category correct, but it was an inside cabin at the forward end of mid-ship. It was clean and, as I said before, well attended by Patrick. Our only (and very minor) complaint was that the clothesline in the shower wouldn't work. I know Patrick tried to have it replaced, but time ran out.

Our bed was very comfortable -- between it and the gentle rocking of the ship, I haven't slept that well in some time!

Port Reviews

Malaga

A lovely city. We found everything about the parts we visited interesting and enjoyable.

Alicante

Also very interesting, although the bus service to the castle (in place of the non-functioning elevator) was very badly planned. The beach is pretty and we found lots to see and do.
