We choose this cruise because of the itinerary. It was a partial crossing of the Panama Canal and then back to the Caribbean. Which we preferrred rather than cruising over to the West Coast and long flight home. Also, preferred Caribbean ports.

The Good - Viking Sky is a very nice ship. It is new so everything is fresh and clean. The design of the ship maximizes public areas. Plenty of places to sit and read or enjoy ocean views. The outside decks have seating around pool areas. In addition, lots of comfortable couches around other outside decks. The infinity pool was heaven, just the right temperature and looking off the back of the ship while floating around was fun. Food was very good most nights. A few blips mid cruise, in food and service. After a couple of nights food recovered to a high level. It is so great to have good food in the main dining room. The crew were very friendly and nice. Always tried to make you comfortable. After a few days hostess in dining room remembered our names and where we preferred to sit.

The Bad The tours started off badly. We registered online for everything, but the first night when reviewing tour tickets and times for departure in newsletter. We found our 1:00 tour was now departing at 9:00 am, even though they still had a 1:00 tour listed. When on vacation we do not like to rush around in the morning so we skipped this tour. There were a couple other tour changes, like tour length listed originally as 7 hours, but in actuality only being 4 hours. We skipped this tour too, would have gone if we knew time was shorter. So check all your tours carefully. Cabin was not in great location - see below. Weather was not the best. We enjoyed the Panama Canal crossing, unfortunately weather turned bad once in Caribbean. Had to skip two ports. Viking managed to get us docked in Nassau and then provided a voucher for $250.each for future cruise Weather does play a big role in how your cruise experience goes and I have tried to be fair about my review. I think overall Viking provides a good value for your money and we will probably go on a another Viking cruise with the right itinerary.

Cabin Review

Cabin Penthouse Verandah

We had to book this cabin, because cruise was sold out and we were able to obtained it due to cancellation. This cabin is very noisy. Two doors from the service hall are located near the cabin and they would slam shut as stewarts went in and out. Also, due to rough seas waves would bang loudly against hull. Made sleeping a problem. A previous reviewer said they thought that there was not a bad cabin on the ship. Well this is it. We had tried to upgrade, but Viking does not have a wait list system for doing this. The bathroom though small, was well designed with lots of shelves and a few drawers. So everything could be stowed away.
