We mainly booked this cruise since it had already been booked by other family members and we decided to tag along. We have sailed with Carnival before in the past and were very happy with our experience, so we had no problem booking again.
Overall, this cruise would get a B+ grade from me. Generally, everything was as you would expect on a cruise liner - the service was good, the food was good, there were no issues with cleanliness, stateroom was well maintained, embarkation and debarkation went without a hitch. The consensus with our entire group was that the entertainment was severely lacking on this cruise, and that was stated by some who had been on 20+ cruises across various different liners. The performers were usually just one person with an acoustic guitar. There was one 'full band' group but we only saw them performing maybe twice during the cruise. The shows at night also had much to be desired. I cannot attest if it was due to poor sound equipment or engineering, but singers/performers did not always sound pleasant or seemed to be pitchy when singing. The choreography was also the most lacking we had seen on a cruise. A highlight to outweigh the negatives would be our wait staff at dinner. Marion and Nerman were very warm and welcoming and greeted us anytime we encountered them on the ship. We have seemed to also have good experiences with the food provided on Carnival's cruises, which is something we have had complaints with on other liners in the last couple years.
All that aside, we would have no problem booking with Carnival or on the Splendor again at a future date if the itinerary and price was right.
Cabin was in great shape and always picked up nicely when we would return in the afternoon. Our housekeeper knew us by name and greeted us warmly whenever we would pass in the hallway.
