After our last Carnival cruise 4 years ago we said never again! But due to schedules and my vote only counted as 25% we went on the Triumph. What a change Carnival made. Boarding out of New Orleans was terrific-we had a set time and boom-we were on board Stateroom was clean and yes dated but she's an old ship and has some nice character. Staff was terrific-our cabin steward was Edy and he is probably the best we ever had in our 14+ cruises. Formal dining is a thing of the past and I think that was customer driven as people don't want formal anymore-can't blame Carnival for rolling with the times of the people. We ate in the London and the first night was horrible service. The team we had were just plain BAD. After complaining we were seated with two other teams during our cruise and it was great- good food, good service except no wine servers around. The menus have less choices but we got by just fine. Lido had choices and the food was good. Overall the entertainment was great except for Tony the piano bar guy was gross, vulgar and a bully. You want to here a song-better attach a $5 to the request. Adult humor is okay but this guy crosses the line. He's got to be pretty insecure with himself to be that off the norm. The other entertainment was good with a couple of standouts for music a duo of a man and women and a band of singers. Never did we lack finding something to do. The staff of the carnival are fantastic with lots of stuff going on. The cruise director -Simon - was fun and remember peoples name. Very great guy. The ship is dated but still a grand ol' lady and we felt comfortable. Complaint- of the 5 hot tubs only one was bubbly. But it was clean- fun and changed my mind again about carnival. already booked another cruise for this summer. I often wonder-Do the cruise lines ever read these reviews???
