We chose this 5 night cruise on the Navigator to celebrate my 60th birthday. We had not been to the two ports, Costa Maya and Cozumel so we thought it would be a good way to explore some new places. Embarkation in Miami was confusing in that they had to put people in different places to wait and some people didn't want to sit for fear of being last. We were delayed by about an hour and were on the ship at 12:30. We had a balcony cabin that was nice and well kept, our room steward Miguel was wonderful. We enjoyed nightly drinks in Bolero's lounge which was our favorite place to relax. Our biggest disappointment on the cruise was the food. We ate in the MDR most nights at the 5:30 seating, did breakfast and lunch in the Windjammer and ate once at Johnny Rockets. We all thought that the food was bland and on at least two occasions someone from our party had to send their entree back to get something different. We had four people in our party and the first night we were seated at a table with two other people. The second night they asked if they could move us to accommodate a party of 19 and we were moved upstairs. The service was poor and the drinks were not prepared properly. The entertainment on this ship was good with the exception of the comedian that was on the first night, he was not funny at all. The shore excursions we took were the Salsa and Salsa in Costa Maya and the Tulum Shopping excursion in Cozumel. We thought that both of the excursions were excellent and we had awesome guides. We only found out when we got home about the ferry explosion two days before we arrived. Although we did like the excursions we did not like the ports at all when we were shopping or walking around. We were constantly harassed by sales people trying to sell us cigars and souvenirs. It was the worst at Playa Del Carmen after our Tulum excursion. I would not go back to either one of these ports unless they were part of a cruise that went other places. I would not go ashore in Costa Maya again just because there is not much there to do. This was our third Royal Caribbean cruise and definitely not our favorite.
