Recently, had the pleasure of cruising the Epic in February. I love Norwegian and really like the Escape and Getaway. I’m definitely a megaship fan. The Epic is different-no waterfront (which I knew ahead of time-but will say was a nice add to the more recent ships). Also, somethings seem backwards-when comparing to the Getaway and Escape (such as Atrium-in back of ship, same with Maltings Whiskey Bar). Spice H20 is different-it has a pool and hot tubs. However, stadium layout makes it challenging to have big parties-such as the glow party. Still, it has its upsides-such as the pool and no children.

Embarkation in Port Canaveral was different than Miami-seemed easier. I was on around 1130-1145 with ease and definitely not a Group 1. I went to Taste for lunch-was nice. I also very much enjoy the Garden café-the pizza I so good it is grabbed up as soon as the crew can place it out. I was a solo cruiser and NCL does that well. My steward, Bryan, was wonderful. My solo coordinator, Lester, was also fabulous! I met some great people over the week-both cruisers and crew!

Unfortunately, I did not get to dine in any of the specialty restaurants. Unfortunately, cruisers have taken to booking all their reservations when they get onboard at the latest. It makes it hard to “freestyle”. I don’t want to book that early-as its unknown when various events will be such as fun gameshow, Deal or No Deal. Sure, I could obtain the Daily newsletter in advance but I enjoy reading it for the first time each night. Freestyling is the NCL way and cruisers need to be less anal and stop booking all dinner reservations in advance-this is not Disney World. Alternatively, NCL could restrict reservations to same-day. However, I still think they should be like the Cheesecake Factory and not take reservations.
