We've sailed on two of the Voyager's sister ships before and this was not up to the standard of the other two (Explorer and Mariner). We love the layout of the Voyager class ships, but the Voyager itself did not live up to our expectations. We still enjoyed our cruise as we can't find a reason not too, but on this ship the service, the food generally and the feel of the ship were just not up to the usual high standards we have come to expect on RCI ships.
Dining room food was below standard and the menu lacked variation and interest. The Windjammer got it together, but was not up to the usual high standard and much of the hot food was served warm at best. Staff appeared to be less numerous, but we don't know if they've cut down or not. The staff they have, however, are excellent and some are exceptional.
The bars all over are very good and the bar staff know their job well. Whether passengers were ordering water, soda, mocktails or cocktails, staff attitude was friendly and accomodating. We found that the Solarium Bar and the R Bar were very efficient.
We thought the cabin was excellent, roomy and well laid out. The extra space afforded (1.5 standard cabin width) provides for lots of storage, hanging space, shelves, cupboards and drawers. Getting in and out of the bath was a little bit of an issue as we just prefer a shower, but it didn't really worry us. Location on deck 9 and near to the aft stairs, was near perfect for us as we're constantly up and down the stairs to the pool deck, windjammer and solarium/fitness centre. The balcony was adequate.
