We picked this cruise to get out of NYC for part of February and go someplace warm. We are a couple in our early 60's who are frequent cruisers. We were hoping to see as few "junior cruisers" as possible. We visited Saint Kitts, Saint Lucia, Barbados, Antigua, and Puerto Rico. We had never visited the first four ports before. San Juan, Puerto Rice was still beat up from the hurricane and many of the stores in the port had not yet reopened. The other places were fine. We took an excursion to the beach on St. Lucia which was OK and we went to an English tea on a plantation on Barbados. We had a great time and saw a lot of interesting sight getting there and coming back. The entertainment on the ship (Norwegian Gem) was better than usual; the singer and magician were great. With our Cruise Critic buddies from the Meet and Greet we had two slot pulls and everyone won both times. The food in the main dining rooms was fine, especially the Cuban chicken I had one night. We ate in the Chinese restaurant once. I loved the food which was very spicy. My wife - not so much. Le bistro, the French restaurant was very good but Moderno, the Brazilian place was absolutely excellent. The pineapple grilled with honey and brown sugar was amazing. Our cabin was fine, it had plenty of room for our clothes and luggage. Our room steward, Loey, was a superstar. He knew our names before we even met him and he always seemed to be around, never failing to greet us and ask if there was anything he could do for us. There was a lot of time at sea (five days) and we played bingo, went to the shows, visited the casino, tried origami, and generally had a good time. There was a bit of weather on the way back but both of us are good sailors and we didn't have a bad time of it. Disembarkation went very smoothly.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin BB

The cabin was fine, plenty of space for our clothes. Everything worked well. We were rarely there.

Port Reviews

St. Kitts (Port Zante)

We walked around the port and did some shopping. I found a great batik shirt at Caravalle Batik.

Antigua

The Island was OK but we were swarmed by people trying to sell us things. They were nice but it got annoying after a while.

San Juan

We were only there from 7 AM to 1 PM. The town was still beaten up from the hurricane. We shopped a little, had a Pina Colada at Barrachina then left.
