  3. Carnival Valor
This was our 15th cruise, 5th on Carnival and have another booked on the Carnival Vista on Jan.13, 2019. We are a married couple in our 70's. We chose this cruise because of the 5 day venue and our close proximity to Galveston, about a 2 hour drive from S/W La. We normally take 7 day cruises but wanted to see how we liked the shorter 5 day cruise. The only difference was the number of port stops. Embarkation from Galveston was one of the fastest we have encountered. The Valor was a well maintained & clean ship for it's age. We had a balcony cabin #7339 on the Empress deck, a very quite cabin which is in the middle of the ship, making it easy to navigate all areas. Our stateroom steward was Hamid, who kept our cabin spotless twice per day at our request. He also filled the ice bucket at each cleaning. We opted for Your Time Dining in the Lincoln Dining Room and was there for it's 5:45pm opening each day, always being seated and served promptly. For breakfast we ate at the Lido buffet normally eating freshly made omelets or eggs cooked to our choice. For lunch we enjoyed Guy's Burger Joint for freshly made burgers and fries (the best), Blue Iguana Cantina or the Lido Buffet. Also enjoyed the self serve ice cream for snacks. We made the nightly shows at the Ivanhoe Theater, but the quality of shows has dropped dramatically over the years. We enjoyed listening to the duo (2Country4 Nashville) at different areas of the ship each day. Also enjoyed listening to Karaoke (some were very good) others not so! We took the Top 10 Tour at Cozumel, was just O.K., did some shopping at both ports, (Cozumel & Progreso). Debarkation at Galveston was held up because of fog, had to wait for about 4 hours before the ship could dock. After docking we were off the ship quickly as we always carry our own luggage off. Overall a very nice cruise.
