We love cruising.....our journey in February 2018 was the first one on a small ship......no casino, no big production shows......just relaxation, great ports, fun entertainment! Cabin, food, and crew are great. The Cruise Director, Jenna, is from Charlotte, so we North Carolinians had a good time with her. We've never seen a more cohesive crew. And the Captain is a hoot! So much personality! The Entertainment Staff is so very talented! Music is wonderful.......and varied. We've already booked our next voyage! Food choices on the buffet were varied and well-prepared. Gelato choices are different each day! Main dining room is good, too. The specialty restaurants (no charge for this) Manfredi's and Chef's Table are excellent. The Chef's Table menu changes nightly......you can check what will be served before you reserve your table. Mamsen's is a delight......Scandinavian menu....and Tea Time is heavenly! Great respite after a full day! The spa is great.....staff is excellent. One of our group commented that her massage was the best one she'd ever had! The public spaces are comfortable...and abundant.....we never felt crowded. Be aware....these spaces are cool! Pack a wrap of some sort! Dress code is resort casual...no need for 'dress up' attire! There is an included shore excursion in every port.....some better than others...but they do give you a good overview of the location. We heard some rumblings from folks whose optional tour did not include the things listed in the description......Viking did give them a refund for this tour. We talked with a few folks younger folks (under 30) just to see if they were bored with the more relaxed atmosphere....and were pleasantly surprised to learn that they chose the STAR because of the itinerary and the excursions.....the passengers on our voyage were mostly over 55.....very spry (we saw a couple walkers and/or canes and one wheelchair).......diverse in nationality also. Check-in and debarkation is a breeze - as is airport transfer! You can tell......we had a great time!

Cabin Review

Cabin Deluxe veranda

The cabin is small...could use more storage...however, it is very adequate......the bathroom is large and well-appointed. The bed is very comfortable.
