Sail Date: Feb 2018

We chose the Epic after cancelling a cruise on her last year due to the size of the ship. We are senior citizens and DH has mobility issues and I was afraid it would be too big. We wanted to go out of Florida, but didn't want to drive to Miami. Went out of Tampa last year on the Jade. In talking with our PCC at NCL I ended up booking the Haven on the Epic for 2/10-17/2018. I felt at least we would have available to us most of the things we needed in a smaller area. We had never sailed in a Haven room before.

Good points: easy embarkation, nice room, beautiful Haven area. We were told the Epic had the best Haven and I certainly feel it was all I expected. Staff was wonderful. Everyone remembered your name after meeting you once. Service at the pool and in the restaurant was excellent.

Bad points: We had a 2 bedroom suite on 17 and the restaurant, lounge, pool, etc were all on 16. Elevator availability was horrible. You could wait up to 10 minutes for one during busy times. Absolutely hated having to make reservations to go to a show. On the smaller ships you could go with how you felt, early eating, late show or early show, later eating. Not here. We had to make reservations ahead of time, then when we looked at the daily events we ended up missing things we would have liked to do because they conflicted. So much easier on the smaller ships to do more. Butler's vary and we have been in suites before and had better ones, and worse ones. Did not get items we requested as snacks. Seemed to be the usual rotation but those fishy canapes are gross. Told him not to bring them, but they showed up anyway. Concierge was present to help with getting on and off the ship, especially at tender ports but told us at disembarkation that there would be a special customs line once we had picked up our luggage. Girl he told us to go to said "NO" and we were put into a long line that snaked around the building about 4 times. Again, DH is mobility challenged. By the time we got outside it was all he could do to get to a bench and sit. If I had known how it ended up I would have requested a wheelchair.

Cabin Review
