We flew out the day before the cruise Arrived in FLL early and took a t cab to Embassy suites on 17th street. Embassy suites had a shuttle for $9 per person cab was $14+tip door to door. Much better deal. Our room was not ready yet so we left the luggage in luggage room and walked down to Kelly Landing. My Husband had read it was a great seafood place. We sat outside not much to look at just beauty shop across street. Service was lacking and food so so. He had the chowder and lobster roll w/fries & beer -I had water and lobster roll w/beans-- bill was $58+tip.
Walked over to the bridge to see the big ships. Saw lots of curvy tail lizards and then Publixs for water and snack for room, and total wine for 2 bottles for the ship. We like our local winery Duplin which they don’t have on the ship. He was also found a bottle of the smoked beer we had in Bamberger Germany. By now our room was ready and I should have known that by booking 3 party our room wouldn’t be great but for an Embassy suite is was subpar. The outside sliding door was broken and would open. Stains and burned/melted carpets. But OK for one night since it was location location location.
Around 5pm a flock of green parrot like birds roasted right out side our window making lots of noise very cool. When we went down for happy hour very very nice with beer wine and surprise mixed drinks and snacks! We had heard the Royal had medical issues was coming in early around 8:30pm So we walked up to the 17th street bridge where there is a bench at the top and watched the ship come in. She slowly came in around 9. There were 3 groups with ambulances and one group in wheel chair that took a taxis. How sad to end you trip like this. Little did we know we would be making a ER stop at St Marrtins on our way back.
We have this cabin every time we sail the Royal or Regal. We like this cabin it is quite in the mornings not carts in the hallways. - not to far for elevators but far enough to get some exercise. The bed faces forward. You can look down and the water --not see life boats. and it is easy to remember the number

Cab to downtown-lot of shop still closed. Seeing lot of damaged signs and building. Many roofs still have blue tarps. My favorite shop Local Color is open and I but a few thing. Hubby is looking for a new camera lens. Usually does Boochands but they no longer have a downtown shop. End up at Side Street Pub tucked in an in alley. With outside tables. Shared a table with wonderful Canadians Had Bushwhackers. They were OK but I miss Paradise Points and the view! Back to the Havensite and shopping. Most of the shops are closed. Found the Boochands camera but they don’t have the lens Hubby wants. The crocks store didn’t have any plain kid’s shoes
