We chose this cruise because of the Panama Canal, which was beautiful. After many cruises with Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, and celebrity, we were extremely disappointed with the food and the level of service from the staff. The food was the lowest quality that could be found. The buffet lacked typical fresh fruits such as bananas, apples, berries oranges, and the watermelon that they did have was so over ripe it was inedible. The variety at the buffet with incredibly lacking. The bacon in the morning tasted like cardboard Lunch was the same thing each day at the buffet; extremely disappointing, and devoid of flavor. I cannot believe they call that brown stuff in the morning coffee, which the staff does not come around to refill. The Reuben Panini had one small slice of corned beef that covered a third of the bread with a little cheese. It was mostly a bread sandwich. The grilled hamburgers tasted of breading, lacking meet. Much of the staff both in the dining rooms and bars we’re not attentive, nor do they care about the passengers, with some exceptions. We even heard disparaging remarks from two bartenders in the rear of the ship passed the buffet regarding the passengers. We heard them raise their voice at some of the older guests. If you have young daughters keep them away from these two guys and they were both bosting how they left a young women’s (passenger) room at 7:30 am. Ivan at the whiskey bar was an exception to the rule and did an outstanding job. There were four in our party and we were seated at a table for six in the main dining room the first day. They never removed the extra chairs nor did they bring any bread, or coffee. The food was certainly not what we were used to on other ships, and limited coupled with poor quality. On a positive note the music was very good as well as the cleanliness of the boat itself. Our cabin steward also did an excellent job. The shows in the theater were just OK. Both comedians were not that great and the seats in the theater go down almost to the floor making it very uncomfortable to sit. There were also no cupholders, which was surprising as the ship was redone not that long ago. The activities director did an excellent job and with visible throughout the cruise. I hope the poor food and the lack of caring by many of the restaurant and bar staff is not a systemic problem with Norwegian, but I wonder.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin BD

Cabin was extremely small, and seemed smaller than usual. Surprisingly, there was very little storage in the room in terms of closet space and cubbyholes, drawers. The showerhead had great pressure and was good. The room itself was clean and neat and we were very happy with the cabin steward. The balcony was the smallest we’ve ever had, but still enjoyable.
