This was a 60th birthday celebration for a family member and the first time on the highly rated and anticipated Ovation of the Sea. I was disappointed. and I would classify this cruise ship and line as average - have been on much better! What was really exceptional was the tendering process - best I have ever seen.

Main dining room (Silks or American Icon) was extremely disappointing especially with the calamari - it was fried batter (had it twice). The Solarium was much better for eating but hard to get into to. Mytime dining food was extremely average to poor and nothing special. Even on formal nights - menu was basic with no lobster etc unless you paid $41US for it!.

Wine selection was poor. I drink Sav Blanc and this was a NZ cruise visiting the famous Marlborough wine region of NZ. Only decent NZ SAV Blanc was in dining rooms - not avail in bars.

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D2

Cabin was good size - quite elongated. Very small balcony. Couldn't fit more than 2 at the max on the balcony

Port Reviews

Sydney (Australia)

This is a general comment for all shore excursion offered by RCL.The Shore excursions were extremely over priced. Cheaper to hire a car and drive to where you want to go. First time ever I have never booked an excursion on a cruise but the prices were totally unrealistic
