We had travelled with Viking on river cruises in Europe and always enjoyed their service. We thought a Caribbean cruise would be a good way to see several islands and then decide which one(s) we would like to go back and visit for a longer stay. We had never been on a "bigger" ship before and were a bit apprehensive about being in the company of 800 - 1000 fellow travellers, but we never felt crowded or overwhelmed by the numbers. There were so many options of things to do and places to relax on the boat that it never felt crowded.
Each day we did a land tour, either on foot or by bus. Our departure city was San Juan, Puerto Rico and we had an excellent three hour tour there before the boat left for St. Croix.
Everything on board was to the highest standard. The food was always delicious (with many options), and the staff delivering the hospitality were absolutely excellent from servers in the dining areas to the cabin cleaners. As for the cruise director, well he was brilliant - such a strong and fun personality, and when he performed his own show in the theatre we learned he was a brilliant singer as well. As were the vocalists who sang with the band in the late night bar every evening. And the band instrumentalists.....and the singers who performed shows for us in the theatre several evenings. It was a wonderful experience, and we really look forward to doing our next one with Viking in Europe in July.
Can't remember the details, but I think we were level 4. I do remember that the ship looked very long from where our cabin was - near the front. We had a laundry room fairly close, and there were several sets of stairs to other floors and of course elevators.
