Celebrity Millennium Cruise Review by Tbird58
- Sail Date: February 2018
- Destination: Asia
- Cabin Type: Deluxe Ocean View with Balcony 2A
Embarkation was smooth and quick, very organized. The ship Millennium is in dire need of updating. We saw so many maintenance issues. The excuses were the ship will be going out for renovation in the next 2 years. They need to make it sooner. There were screws missing from the handles in the public bathrooms, so there was concern the handle might come off and your stuck! Bolts were missing from the metal frame around the door in bathrooms. Our cabin was great except the light and rim that was hanging down and we could see the wiring. I reported and was told, "there aren't any extra parts available." Our interactive menu on the TV didn't work until 3 days prior to leaving. We reported numerous times and had 3 different remotes.
The MDR was great and we had 2 exceptional waiters - Andi and Candida. They were awesome, as well as the Sommelier Tes. She was constantly there for us and a delight. The 2 best martini bartenders - Maria and Gusti were awesome as well. The food in the MDR was great with lots of variety. Everyone at our table was happy with their meals, except one night, but it was a fluke. Our cabin steward - Gabriel was wonderful. Attentive, polite and always available with whatever we needed. The casino only had the bartender and could have used more staff to walk around and take drink orders from players at the table and slots. More staff is needed in the Ocean View too. They all work so hard and Celebrity needs to hire more, not give them more duties.
The entertainment was really good with lots of variety, as well as Paul and Valentina were awesome!
We booked our own tours and had wonderful guides and just immersed ourselves in to each town. Fabulous, fabulous food and keeping the groups small make it so much nicer to see sights and have time to explore. Our favorite cities were Hoi An, Ho Chi Minh City and Singapore. We really like Hanoi as well, but didn't get to spend as much time as we would have liked due to the traffic and travel time. Super long day, but worth it to go into Hanoi. We did Hong Kong and Singapore on our own using either the MTR and occasional taxi. Easy to get around and MTR is cheap, quick and super clean in both cities.

Bangkok (Laem Chabang)Crazy fun tour visiting the Royal Palace, recycling Buddha, floating market, flower and handicraft market, and the railroad train stop. The temples are gorgeous and overwhelming. Fun to ride on the faster boats around the city, then to the markets and temples. We stayed at hotel overnight...the only was to do it with the long commute to the port. We did the floating market as well. The railroad tracks are in the middle of the market and everyone has to fold up their goods as the train comes through 4 times a day. What a hoot to watch! Great guide and wonderful food.View All 13,324 Bangkok (Laem Chabang) Cruise Port Reviews

Da NangLoved Hoi An. Beautiful little city. All decorated with lanterns and celebrating the new year. We had a great guide Mr. Mike and he showed us as much as he could in the allotted time. Wonderful lunch and beautiful views from China Beach and the Marble Mountain.View All 13,324 Da Nang Cruise Port Reviews

HanoiWe really enjoyed Hanoi, but the drive in took too long due to stops. We would have liked more time exploring the city and more time at the Prison. Our guide got behind on time, so we were rushed. Had a rickshaw ride that was a blast! Amazing food at the guides recommended restaurant. He called in and it was ready for us. Very thoughtful. Traffic is crazy and fun to watch.View All 13,324 Hanoi Cruise Port Reviews

Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)Excellent is an understatement. Xuan was fabulous and we had a full day in Saigon. We didn't do the tunnels since we wanted more time in town. We went to the War Rements museum - a must see! Reunification palace, Post office - beautiful, Rex Hotel, Opera House and the CIA Building - where the last helicopter landed at the fall of Saigon in 1975. The town was lively, beautiful and the people are incredibly friendly. We will return.View All 13,324 Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) Cruise Port Reviews

Hong KongWish we had more time there prior to embarking. We loved Hong Kong and will be back. Easy to get around on the MTR with Octopus card and food was amazing! Loved all the sights we saw, but want to see more.View All 318 Hong Kong Cruise Port Reviews

SingaporeAbsolutely beautiful, clean and friendly city. We did our own thing using the MTR and it was great. Cheap for a 2 day tourist ticket...all you can ride. And easy to get around to see what we wanted. Highlights are definitely the Gardens by the Bay and Chinatown.View All 573 Singapore Cruise Port Reviews
