Active Adventure! China and Tibet were very new cultural, historical, societal, political and religious experiences for us. Very eye opening. It is best be understanding and flexible. The land based portion had beautiful 5 star hotels, especially the Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai, The Regency in Beijing, and The Shangri la in Tibet Ship on Yangtze River was not the typical Viking Long Ship, but still very comfortable. The chef was wonderful .... The best beef tenderloin ever! The ship was a welcomed respite from the intra country travel hotels, planes, and busses. Words of Wisdom: Pack light, be in good health and take altitude meds for Tibet, bring your own TP/travel tissues and hand sanitizer for sightseeing excursions. Highlights were the Forbidden City in Beijing, The Great Wall, Terracotta Warriors in Xi'an, all of Tibet, and the Three Gorges Dam. This was a once in a life time trip. Would recommend starting in Beijing direction of travel.
