We chose Viking because it was recommended by a family member as something to try. We traveled from Amsterdam Netherlands to Basel Switzerland on the Rhine river and an additional two nights in Lucerne.

From the moment we arrived the hospitality was outstanding. The room was enough for us. We had a slider to view the surroundings and had plenty of space. Everything on the ship was quickly accessible due to the size of the Kara. With only about 185 guests on the Kara we felt more relaxed than on a cruise with 3000 other people.

The excursions were educational and fun; seeing Cologne Cathedral up close was breathtaking! We always enjoyed walking through castles like Marksburg or towns like Kinderdjik with the windmills, Rudesheim and Strasbourg.

The room was enough for us. We had a slider to view the surroundings and had plenty of space. It was nice to have the 110 wall plugs.
