I've always wanted to visit Provence, so a river trip from Lyon to Arles seemed like a good way to go.The Viking staff were great and really took care you, from arrival in Lyon to the flight out from Marseille. We ate all meals on board. Before we left we hoped to have at least some lunch in a local town, and we could have I guess, but the excursions were frequent and the food on the boat was excellent. Oh wait! In Carmargue we had lunch at a farm restaurant that was very popular, and it was wonderful! The stateroom was completely functional and comfortable. It was small but it never bothered us. The design was very modern Scandinavian but it just worked so well! The ship was clean and well designed. All passengers could eat at the same time in the dining area. The lounge was comfortable to sit in. We sailed on the last week of the season, so it was cool but fine. One day we sat in the bow lounge outdoors and just watched the countryside go by.... The activities were the excursions as I mentioned, and all we well planned, worth doing, and fun. The best two were Train de l'Ardèche and the day trip to Arles and Camargue.

Cabin Review

Cabin 1xx
We took the least expensive cabins on the lowest deck. No picture window or balcony but it did not matter. You did not spend much time, so it did not matter. The window was at the top of the wall and you could see the water close up! We liked that. See above for cabin details.
