I've always wanted to visit Provence, so a river trip from Lyon to Arles seemed like a good way to go.The Viking staff were great and really took care you, from arrival in Lyon to the flight out from Marseille.
We ate all meals on board. Before we left we hoped to have at least some lunch in a local town, and we could have I guess, but the excursions were frequent and the food on the boat was excellent. Oh wait! In Carmargue we had lunch at a farm restaurant that was very popular, and it was wonderful!
The stateroom was completely functional and comfortable. It was small but it never bothered us. The design was very modern Scandinavian but it just worked so well!
We took the least expensive cabins on the lowest deck. No picture window or balcony but it did not matter. You did not spend much time, so it did not matter. The window was at the top of the wall and you could see the water close up! We liked that. See above for cabin details.
Good but fast city tour so we could get to Carmargue.
Fun to see THE famous bridge and learn it's not "sur" (the pont...) but "sous" i.e. UNDER the pont d'Avignon.
