Previously sailed the Grand European River Cruise with Viking but the Danube Waltz Cruise was combined with land tour to Munich and Salzburg and a few different stops and tours made this seem quite fresh. The River portion was so relaxing and comfortable with excellent accommodations and service by the crew. We feel like we really got to see and experience the sites and culture of the areas we visited. The tour guides were exceptional and gave excellent advice when we went off on our own.especilly enjoyed Vienna and Bratislava and our extension in Budapest. Because the weather was nice, we were able to walk back to the ship from the Monastery at Melk and shop in the town. The crew were so friendly and accommodating and got to know us individually. The food was well prepared, fresh, healthy and tasted good, even if the menu was not particularly exciting, there was always something we enjoyed eating. The food, especially the steaks were high quality. We enjoyed our meals and fellow travelers. We felt pampered and appreciated.
Love the veranda and spacious facilities. Room had many comforts and amenities and space for all our belongings. Appreciated the comfortable bed nd simple and tasteful decorations. Always at a comfortable temperature.
Would recommend the walking tour and shopping in Bratislava. Search out the unique bronze sculptures. Excellent gelato. It’s a beautiful traditional city and the city guides are great. A visit to St Marks Church and museum area was really interesting.
We visited Salzburg on a Viking land tour prior to the cruise and enjoyed it thoroughly. It was a wonderful experience. At this port we took a bus to Czeky Kromlov in the Czech Republic and highly recommend this tour of the gardens, castle and old town.
I have visited Passau previously but had less time on this cruise to really savor this city or walk the promenade next to the river. We attended the organ concert at St Stephens nd it was wonderful. We did find the gummy bear store, tasted many samples and bought souveners. Found a great wine shop to pick up a bottle for our cabin.
